Wonderful Wednesday...Enjoying Life

-Mother Teresa

I don't know what has gotten into me recently.  For the past few weeks, I have been waking up every single morning excited and happy about life.  I've been smiling more, laughing more, sharing more and giving more.  I really think it has to do with "getting out of my own way" and asking myself two things:  what can I do for someone else today to improve their lives because "giving is the price we pay for living" and what can I do for myself...because I can't truly love anyone until I love myself.

It really is easy to do.  Just start with one thing and watch the change in your life.  Here are five doable things that you can start with; just pick one:
  1. Sign up as a volunteer at a Domestic Violence Shelter.
  2. Start a Senior Citizen book club at a local nursing home.
  3. Serve food at a homeless shelter.
  4. Buy a bag of fresh fruit and vegetables and leave it at the home of the single mother with four kids on your block.
  5. Perform a random act of kindness for a stranger.

Remember not to leave yourself out because

“A healthy self-love means we have no compulsion to justify to ourselves or others why we take vacations, why we sleep late, why we buy new shoes, why we spoil ourselves from time to time. We feel comfortable doing things which add quality and beauty to life.”
-Andrew Matthews

So this is for you...
  1. Take a long bath...with bubbles (in the tub and in the glass you take to the tub).
  2. Buy some sexy undies and wear them when you don't have a date.
  3. Smile at a stranger on the bus, subway, in the grocery story or on the elevator.
  4. Learn how to make a something decadent like homemade pound cake, white sangria or sauteed soft-shelled crabs...for yourself.
  5. Take a tango class so you get "dipped" at least once in your life.
It's about living everyday people...living your life "like it's GOLDEN!"

Have a WONDERFUL week!

  1. Hello Star,

I first heard of your blog through another one so I had to check it out. I love your blog. It lifts my spirits up everyday that I read it. Sometimes I can feel so down about myself and just be so jealous of everyone around and about stupid things. Like clothes and friendships.

Your blog gives me and IS inspirational and just makes me happy with being who I am and what I am :)

  2. Love your blog! After reading this morning - I went about my day with a better attitude. I actually put on makeup for the first time in years! AND smiled at strangers...this evening at dinner we volunteered to move from our table so a family of eight could push the two together... THANK YOU STAR
