I'll be there for you Star and I'm overwhelmed that you are such a caring person. It takes real moxie to share your most intimate struggles with others. Especially in such a public way.
ReplyDeleteGosh girl if you wrote whodunits I'd simply be at your feet. (Insert a Really Big Smile here) I do so love me a good mystery. Well...I love chocloate and tea too.
If your positive attitude and sincere heart does not touch many souls today...I'll truly be in shock. I love your positive inspiring words and I'm sure many others benefit from them too.
You are so blessed with a loving family and friends. It doesn't surprise me that your nephew chose to write and speak about you. They sound like great kids.
This is a good day. And I agree it's wonderful to know that God is by our side and lives in our heart. When I find myself losing hope or giving in to fear I pray and I write. Between the two I find answers that will work for me. I work hard to find a new plan.
Have a great day Star. You have done a good thing.
J-
Just finished watching Oprah. Star, I have never felt so open to you until now. You were so genuine with Oprah & I just wanted to let you know that you are more beautiful, inside & out, than I have ever seen you. You are now the type of friend that I would like to have. Keep it up. We all need to just be ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting here watching Oprah and I am just so overwhelmed. Finally someone who is real enough to speak up and tell the TRUTH! Thank you so much Star. Alot of us (women) have struggles with our weight, but I am sooo glad that you said you had to lose the weight mentally too and that you went through therapy for the emotional and mental healing. I have always admired you but now I see you in a whole new light. God Bless you and may He continue to use you to impact lives!
ReplyDeleteStar, Star, Star! You are a beautiful intelligent Black woman. I can certainly relate to you about disappointing everyone; but just know the only person that you should not disappoint in YOURSELF. Always be open and those who love you would never turn their back on you. Thank you for sharing and being yourself FINALLY. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE YA!
P.S. Due to all the fake celebs on Twitter I have followed and unfollowed you so many times its a shame. Just to be sure, would it be rude of me to ask you to please follow me Kathy Hopkinson??
I just watched Oprah and Star is on FIYAH!
ReplyDeleteYou are admired Star because you are showing such grace and poise as you have reflected over the past few years.
This must have been you all this time but we just didn't see you. It's nice to meet you ... again. (smile)
I love ya!
I rushed home to see you on Oprah. I was not disappointed! I was moved and motivated by your interview. I was impressed by your transparency and authenticity. Tears came to my eyes when you spoke about your problems w/telling about your surgery. It take a brave person to admit much of what you said. Much respect...God Bless!
ReplyDeleteBRAVO! Just done watching two of my favorite Black Heros on the screen at the same time.....Star I am so proud of you.....Fantastic job keep your head up girlfriend!!!
ReplyDeleteStar, I thank you for your very candid Oprah appearance. To this day, I miss seeing you on a daily basis (M-F)
ReplyDeleteYour absence has greatly impacted by viewing habits. Although I enjoyed the others as well, I really felt the best was definately saved for last, and had a boo-hoo moment or two.
Thank you again, for sitting down w/ Oprah, and also for this blog.
I thank you for
Your story touched me, Star. I used to watch you every day on The View and have missed you every since you left. Seeing you on Oprah today took my breath away at how much you have evolved as a woman and a human being. Thank you for sharing your story, it came in your own time. After so many years of seeing you on television I almost consider you a gal pal and could not be prouder of you if we knew one another in person. Your honesty and candidness are to be admired and I know you will continue to inspire many women as you always have.
ReplyDeleteMuch love and many blessings!!!
Struggle with weight...struggling with me....but you inspired me! You look good! Nothing wrong with seeking help with a therapists. Our people do not general perscribed to this method, but we all need an environment to release, discover and renew.
ReplyDeleteGod bless You.
Star, I enjoyed seeing you on Oprah today! Very raw and honest! I want to leave you with a few words: I'm sure very familiar with this quote-
ReplyDelete"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, "Who am i to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?" Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. You were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within you. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
Positively Star!! I watch you on Oprah tonight and I learned so much from listening to you. I'm 5ft and currently at my heaviest 150. My weight is normally 125. It's amazing how weight affects so many parts of who we are and how we can be. Star - you were so open, humble, confident, poised - I am in awe. I'm 30 years old and still quite impressionable - and my sister - you made a lasting impression on me. My God continue to bless abundantly.
ReplyDeleteEvery single comment is welcome and appreciated. I feel your prayers...

Dear Ms. Star,
ReplyDeleteToday is Sat (4/4) and I'm just now getting to watch Oprah. Let me first say that I have totally changed my opinion about you. I will admit that I was one for calling you a sell out for not admitting that you had the gastric bypass surgery. Please, please, forgive me, and may GOD forgive me as well. The lesson here is "Do not judge a book by it's cover". Nobody knows a person's emotional state of mind. I am so proud of the woman you have become. You seem like the type of woman that would be a true friend to me. You are so much calmer and down to earth and you just seem so happy and secure with yourself. Don't let those tabloids get to you because like I did, they are judging. They don't know the real you. Thank you for sharing a portion of the real you with me and 40 million others. Keep telling your story. And whenever you make any other changes, find a way to tell us. Don't worry about what we are going to think. Just be confident enough to say what you have to say for us to understand. Be proud and be blessed and continue to share.
God Bless You
