Friendships require co-operative and supportive behavior between two people. Often I find myself being cordial to everyone I meet. It's almost as if I put up a hard shell to protect my heart from rejection. I know that's not good.
ReplyDeleteToo many people come in & out of my life, but very few stay. So I tell people I don't need their friendships b/c I don't want to deal with the drama of losing them in my life.
I go out to dinner almost every night. Usually, I dine alone. Holidays I take a vacation b/c I don't wanna deal with family drama. As a result, I now find myself alone -- but I'm not lonely. However, at times I do realize the importance of needing someone in my life. Whenever I'm filling out paperwork and I get to the "emergency contact" part, I get stuck. I don't have an emergency contact. I'm only 26, but I can see 20+ years from now still dining alone, still take vacations alone during the holidays, and still not having an emergency contact...and still lacking friends.
