SATISFIED SATURDAY: The Five Love Languages...

  • Words of Affirmation
This is when you say how nice your spouse looks, or how great the dinner tasted. These words will also build your mate's self image and confidence.
  • Quality Time
Some spouses believe that being together, doing things together and focusing in on one another is the best way to show love. If this is your partner's love language, turn off the TV now and then and give one another some undivided attention.
  • Gifts
It is universal in human cultures to give gifts. They don't have to be expensive to send a powerful message of love. Spouses who forget a birthday or anniversary or who never give gifts to someone who truly enjoys gift giving will find themselves with a spouse who feels neglected and unloved.
  • Acts of Service
Discovering how you can best do something for your spouse will require time and creativity. These acts of service like vacuuming, hanging a bird feeder, planting a garden, etc., need to be done with joy in order to be perceived as a gift of love.
  • Physical Touch
Sometimes just stroking your spouse's back, holding hands, or a peck on the cheek will fulfill this need.
Dr. Gary Chapman really makes you think with the "Five Love Languages." Check out this test to see what language you speak.

  1. I have this book and I LOVE it - it neatly compartmentalizes some of the things that we do the most in relationships, and gives little tidbits for how to understand each language that much more. Pretty awesome. :)

  2. Acts of Service: Today, my hubby mowed the lawn. It's a fair amount of lawn and he did it with a hand mower. Our property looks so nice, so in turn (and I really enjoyed doing it), I fired up the grill and served him a fantastic Porterhouse steak with a cucumber and tomato salad with scallions, dill and white wine vinaigrette and he just loved it! I just loved watching him appreciate his work while enjoying his meal!

  4. Very interesting test. I have tying scores in 2 categories and then another set of tying scores in 2 other categories. I will definitely have to get this book.

  5. I was once told my a very wise person( my grandma):
A discovery is said to be an accident meeting a prepared mind! Star you name says it all!! Keep on shining and leading the way!!Muah!

  6. I personally don't know the key to success; however I believe that the key to failure is trying to please everyone (impossible!!!) Work your life purpose, and job well done!!!
